One week has passed

A week has passed, and WHAT a week! We have both had SO much going on at work and with other things, that we aren’t sure yet how much has really sunk in (although looking at her photo makes it VERY real! – as well as paying for plane tickets)

Today at 10:51 a.m. I looked at the clock and reminisced about what had happened at that exact time one week ago. It still seemed (and seems) kind of surreal! Did that really happen?

We have planned and hoped and waited for sooooo long, and now all of a sudden we are right smack dab in the middle of all we had been planning and hoping and waiting for.

Amazing!

We have been so blessed by the way Esther has brought joy to so many people, all in just one short week! We are already proud parents, just because of that! She is our “star”, our African Queen, our South African princess, our longed-for child, our baby girl.

We are having a baby shower tomorrow for our church family, and since Swedes don’t quite understand the concept of a baby shower it won’t be exactly like an American one, but Niklas is still going to bake American cupcakes! He has been in the kitchen all evening, also baking a homemade cheesecake and a lemon chiffon pie. I am making my oh-so-famous spinach dip!

People will be coming over to celebrate our daughter, and I am going to ask them to write down a welcome message in a little book for her, so that she will always know how many people have been praying for her and eagerly awaiting her arrival!
