but also finally had time to write a little bit about Esther as well:
Our baby girl is six months old today!
And do you know what we did to celebrate?!
We were officially made the Lorentzon Family of Three!
We got up early today to drive into Johannesburg with another family whose little girl is from the same shelter as Esther. It was raining, which is unusual for this time of year, and the drive went okay until Esther barfed in the form of a geyser onto her pretty dainty fancy girly court clothes, as well as the car seat. Oh well. If any coming family happens to borrow the blue car seat from Chancellor’s Court just know that Esther has puked in it – you have been forewarned.
So, the rest of the day all three of us smelled like Esther’s spit up!
From the moment we entered the judge’s chambers to complete the final steps of the adoption process, Esther started smiling and giggling and bouncing and cooing, charming everyone in the room. They all saw how well she was adjusting to her new forever family and she really made everyone so happy. She is a little charmer, that one!
Some other new facts about Esther:
We were so looking forward to dressing her up in all the beautiful clothes she received from friends and family, but she LOVES to go around just in her diaper. She really is only fussy if she is too hot, and she loves to be taken outside where it is a bit cooler and there is a breeze. So whenever we have her inside she is basically just in her diaper. We think she likes to show off her beautiful skin and her pretty little legs and arms.
She sleeps really well at night, only waking once for a bottle, which means she sleeps about 12 hours at night.
One of the first things we noticed about her on the first day was how strong she is, especially for such a tiny, petite little girl. When she stands up she totally straightens out her legs and thinks that must be the way to stand up - lock your knees and look shocked that you are standing!
When she laughs during games. she opens her mouth as wide as possible into a big O and gasps like it is the funniest thing ever. Sometimes she makes me laugh so hard when I watch her doing this that my tummy hurts!
Pretty much all of the time her eyebrows are raised really high and her eyes are huge, taking everything in, curious as can be, fascinated by everything going on, eager to learn and experience new things. Her most common facial expression is: WOW THIS IS THE COOLEST THING EVER!
We still feed her a bottle with formula most often, but sometimes porridge and sometimes baby food puré. It is very messy to feed her because she wants to explore the food, the spoon, our hands, the table, and everything else.
She grabs our finger to put it into her mouth, and grabs blankets to put their corners into her mouth. She likes to suck on her pillowcase when falling asleep and waking up. The first thing she did when I met her was to take my finger and gnaw on it.
That means she is a DROOLER right now. Her grandma in the US made her and bought her lots of bibs, which is a good thing considering she goes through about 5 per day.
She is utterly fascinated by the TV and computer screen. She will stare at it and stare at it like she has never seen anything so amazing.
I sing a goodnight song for her that has three verses so far (sung to the melody of the Swedish song that goes, “Ingen kickar fotboll som han, Zlatan, Zlatan” – don’t ask me why, I just started it and it stuck) that goes like this:
“The cutest girl I ever did see, Esther, Esther,
Makes mamma as happy as can be, Esther, Esther,
Prettiest little hands and feet, Esther, Esther...”
And she usually calms down when she hears it.
Esther is a beautiful, petite little baby girl who LOVES all the attention she is getting and is thriving because of it. Her attitude towards life thus far seems to be that it is fascinating and has all kinds of wonderful things to offer for exploration. She is definitely flourishing, and she is most definitely our little “star”!

Wow you would have any difficulties to write a follow up later, when your daughter is so amazing! Love to read it, but your photo's say more than 1000 words. Wonderful how your life is filled with joy!
It's always amazing to me how parents can say the same things about their children but even though the words are the same the meaning is completely different. It's unique to that child and that parent.
Oh, and as far as the spit up goes...LOL. I only ever lived with friends how had babies, but I pretty much got used to that myself and to my friends changing their clothes multiple times a day. I think it's a rite of passage or something. Welcome to parenthood! :)

Det är speciellt, minst sagt, att bli förälder. Omtumlande, lyckligt, konstigt, underbart, ofattbart att bli tre från att ha varit två.
En varm, stor lyckokänsla i hjärtat. Det är så STORT!
Kim blev så glad när vi fick inbjudan till babyshower. Jag vill bli hennes fadder, var det första hon sa.
Jag kunde tyvärr ej komma, då jag var på en Stilla dag i Kyrkheddinge prästgård. Det är så gott att hämta från Källan.
