Our trip home

The South African government really put a lot of effort into improving the highways leading into Joburg, and as we drove to the airport it really was smooth sailing the whole way. The airport was packed when we got there, and there were fans from all kinds of World Cup countries, and every few minutes we were deafened by the vuvuzelas.

We got there at 7:35 pm, waited in line for an eternity, then waited in line again and again, and then waited to board our plane which wasn't to leave until 11 pm. Both girls did really well during that wait.

Then we got on the plane and both were able to sleep fairly well nearly the whole flight to London. Sylvia got uncomfortable several times, but only fussed once when she was really hungry and I wasn't fast enough with the bottle.

The 3 hour layover in London was hard but not really a problem. Sylvia slept on Niklas' back and Esther ate snacks and rode some escalators.

style="margin-bottom: 0in;">The hardest part was the flight from London to Copenhagen. Esther was whiny and tired and hungry, and Sylvia was just all over the place, wanted to touch and grab everything, drop everything, couldn't just relax. Niklas was exhausted from it! Finally at the end Esther fell asleep but by then it was time to get off the plane. They did okay waiting for our bags, and then on the train Sylvia fussed big time and Esther whined, but by that time they were just both hungry and had had enough. By that time we had been traveling for over 20 hours.
